The use of water as a therapeutic agent has been known since immemorial times. All ancient civilizations used it to cure various diseases and ailments.
In general, we can speak of three types of water for medicinal purposes: “natural” running water, mineral spring water and sea water. Each one has unique and different properties that are applied according to need and availability.
Natural running water is the tap water we use in our homes on a daily basis. Although it has the least medicinal properties, its usefulness lies in the methods and ways in which we use it.
Let us now discuss the nettle. It has also been used as a remedy to flagellate parts of the body affected by rheumatism and to stimulate circulation since ancient times. Its leaves are elongated, with serrated edges. The plant is completely covered in stinging hair. At the slightest contact, the tips break and enter the skin, where they directly inject their stinging content.
If you come across it in the field and it comes into contact with your skin, it will irritate you severely. However, in your therapies, we use it to the appropriate extent to achieve the desired effect.
This moist cold water and nettle compress therapy will be the first thing you do in the morning.
You will first stand with your legs spread and your arms extended while your therapist taps your body gently with nettle plants. The nettle will cause a natural reaction of slight burning on contact with your skin, which is important because it causes blood to flow towards your epidermis, causing your outside temperature to rise slightly.
By opening the pores of your skin, nettle also prepares you for the next step: rubbing your whole body with a towel dampened with cold water. The change in temperature causes pores to open and close, helping to expel toxins and energize you for the day.
This process is repeated several times and at the end you will lie down wrapped in your sheets or blankets. Your body will relax, your temperature will settle, and you will be ready to start your day.
